Please find for sale a very rare and beautiful Jugendstil Art Nouveau silver brooch. The brooch was made in Pforzheim, Germany around 1900. We have attributed it to the firm of Andreas Odenwald.

It is marked G Gescht 800 and is made from 800 out of 1000 parts silver. G Gescht is an abbreviation of the German words Gesetzlich Geschützt, meaning a registered and protected design.

The brooch is set with translucent purple plique-à-jour enamel and with a triangle of graduated blue enamel. It has a strong geometric Jugendstil design reminiscent of the work of Karl Bissinger (of Levinger & Bissinger fame!)

The brooch is in a fair antique condition. Four of the plique-à-jour cells are missing enamel and there are stress cracks to others. The blue enamel triangle is chipped at the bottom. And the left hand side of the brooch is a little buckled when viewed horizontally.

Weight 4.3g
Width 1 5/8 inch / 41mm
