The Statement Dress.

I can totally picture Kate Middleton wearing this vintage 1980s Oscar de la Renta hot pink dress. This dress also makes me think of Victoria Beckham's lovely creations (only this one probably inspired her and it's a teeny tiny fraction of what one of her divine dresses would cost!) This dress is one of my FAVORITE dresses I have ever found. It is so well constructed. The craftsmanship is unbelievable. This is OMG Oscar de la Renta. It could have been from his boutique. There is no store tag, like Saks or Neiman's. It was a pretty penny in it's day, and it's a bargain now. The dress doesn't have a material label but I think it's a wool gabardine. And the lining isn't a polyester. No ma'am. It's silk. I love that the dress features two side pockets and zippers on the cuffs of the sleeves. The dress has shoulder pads and a back zipper. And how FABULOUS is the neckline?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress!

Oscar de la Renta is one of my favorite designers. He makes beautiful (and wearable) clothing that are timeless. (You know he's got to be good cause he's besties with with Anna Wintour.) Oscar de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican designer trained under Balenciaga and Castillo. He also worked for Lanvin and Balmain. Oscar de la Renta gained fame for dressing Jackie Kennedy in the 1960s. His gowns dominate the red carpet and he has won numerous awards including CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award and the induction into the Coty Hall of Fame in 1973.

History/Backstory: A Tracey Treasure. I purchased this while in Virginia from a specialist designer dealer for my own designer collection. It was love at first sight and I had to have it. I have decided that it really is unfair that it just hangs in the closet. It really needs to be out and about in the world. This beauty must be shared.
