Souvenir pillow cover from 1950s Hong Kong with a Chinese Temple beautifully embroidered on the front. Back is rose colored either satin or silk. The front is velveteen. There is an opening with two snaps on one side for inserting a pillow.

This is from a group of vintage souvenir linens purchased mainly at commissary stores around the world in the 1950s by a member of the US Navy. The recipient of the souvenirs did not receive them and they have been stored in a closet until they were sold by a relative at a yard sale in 2005. We did not wash these items because we were not sure of some of the fabrics; some we would choose to professionally dry clean. We determined that the buyers would rather pay a lower price and decide for themselves how to care for the items.
