This is on hold for Laura-please don't buy! I'm fascinated by these Italian Wedding "Quilts". They were sent by soldiers to their beloveds from overseas during WWI, and this one was put away and never used. What happened? Did he return home? Did she get tired of waiting and find someone else? Perhaps he was killed or MIA, and, in her grief, his would-be bride could neither bring herself to use it nor give it away. Therein lies the attraction of old things: mystery and superb craftsmanship. This piece has only two flaws that I could find: a fray on a fold as the result of being folded and not touched for 70 years (last photo), and some dirt from when it possibly touched a dusty floor when it was brought out of storage (bottom right, photo 3). All fringe is intact and there are no stains, faded spots, or holes anywhere. Shown on a King sized bed for scale, it measures 84" w. x 91" l. These make beautiful throws and table covers, as well.
