This recycled, bound notebook contains 50 sheets (100 pages) of paper; the covers as well as the interior pages have rounded edges. The front and back covers were taken from a Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country VHS box.

The notebook (excluding the binding) measures about 4 inches wide by 7-1/2 inches tall. The pen in the last picture is for scale (pen not included, but a box of 8 Crayola crayons can be added for a small additional price, perfect for a complete gift).

The inside back cover has a small stamped inscription: Handmade by Faith; introvertcreations.etsy.com (example shown in 4th picture).

Such notebooks have a variety of uses: party favors, scribbling books for children, shopping lists, drawing pads, etc.

Disclaimer: As this is recycled packaging, there may be some imperfections in the front and back covers.

The specific idea for these upcycled notebooks first came on my radar about six years ago. My husband attended a summer graduate seminar, and I tagged along to beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Another participant had a variety of colorful notebooks that caught my eye. He would take old cracker and cereal boxes, three-hole punch them as well as a stack of old note paper, and then tie it all together with yarn. I loved how he took materials that would normally be tossed and found a clever way to give them a new life. That has been my inspiration. Instead of subjecting something straight to the recycling bin, I've given it a new lease on life by transforming it into a notebook. The recycling bin can wait while these notebooks bring a little happiness to others.

Furthermore, as I've become an adult, I've felt more strongly about protecting our environment and taking steps whenever possible to reuse materials and lessen my carbon footprint. In my daily life, this takes shape by recycling, composting, and using cloth diapers on my daughter. And, in this instance, finding materials destined for recycling and giving them a second life makes me feel that I'm making a positive contribution.
