On this gorgeous day, a light, misting rain swept down the slopes of the rainforest onto the peninsula while the sun broke through the clouds and bathed this old stone church in light. Constructed of lava rock and coral mortar, this church was built in 1856 and, after a 1946 tsunami, was the only building left standing on the low peninsula. (The proper name of the church is: Ihi'ihio Iehowa o na Kaua)

On Maui, Hawaii, the Road to Hana is a legendary drive: 54 miles of narrow winding road that passes over 59 bridges (most of which are one lane wide), has some 620 curves and switchbacks, hugs the sides of towering cliffs, winds past waterfalls and through lush, tropical rainforest. The secret to the Road to Hana is that the entire point is not getting to Hana, it's enjoying the countless stops along the way. Oh – and the drive is most rewarding on rainy, cloudy days because the waterfalls have more water, the volcanic cliffs weep silver rivulets of water, the greens are impossibly richer . . . .

If you've been lucky enough to drive this road – or know someone who has – this series is for you. The photos in this series have been taken over 15 years and some two dozen plus journeys along the road; literally, I have culled them from thousands I've taken of this drive. A terrific memory of a honeymoon, anniversary, or "Lucky me, I went to Maui!" trip.

The photos may be purchased as a series of small photos (5 x 7) of your favorite places along the Road to Hana . . . of course, you're always welcome to select just one in any size you prefer . . .

Photo is 5 x 7, printed on Hahnemuhle Pearl art paper with archival, high definition inks for rich, deep colors that will last a lifetime without fading.

'Ke'anae Stone Church' is titled and signed on the back, enclosed in a protective clear sleeve and shipped flat in a rigid mailer to arrive safely..

The photograph shown here is at a lower resolution, and colors are not as rich or deep as in the photograph you will receive. The watermark will NOT appear on your photograph.

NOTE: Convo me for quotes on other sizes, matted options, or printed as a stunning, ready-to-hang, infused aluminum print.
