This necklace fashioned from a gorgeous antique victorian cut steel buckle and button and handcrafted waxed cord is a truly amazing upcycle done probably 80 years ago.

The gorgeous cut steel buckle with rosette and marquise cut steel beads measures 2 3/8" by 1 7/8 and the round steel button that sits above it measures 1/2" in diameter. The long braided and woven necklace looks identical to the intricate human hair and horse hair work done during the Victorian times. However, it is done with a very thin black cord that is a bit stiff and waxy which leads me to believe this was an "upcycle" of Victorian elements done sometime in the 20s to 40s. The cord work is tight and flawless save for some slight fade to the color. The braided section measures 25" long and slips over the head. A silky material covers the back of the pendant. The cord does bends a bit when at rest, but hangs straight when being worn. The handiwork on this necklace is truly art. A fabulous OOAK statement piece!
