This lovely handmade piece was made by a grandchild for her grandmother in 1964. It's a cross stitched domestic scene of a lady, in 19th century dress, in silhouette, by a chair looking at her parrot. It's decorated with handstitched flowers. There's even a tiny flower in a frame on the wall.

It's very cute and i'm sure the grandmother was pleased to receive such a fine handmade little work of her well behaved grandchild.

On the back it says: voor oma van Opzeeland gemaakt. Voor haar verjaardag 16-6-1964. Which means made for granny van Opzeeland. For her birthday.

The embroidery is done on cotton, then framed in an oval frame with glass to protect it. The back with the text handwritten on it is attached to the frame, probably glued. The black frame is chipped in a few places (see photos). The white cotton is slightly discoulored over the years.

Measurements: 19 x 25 cm.

Condition: fairly good vintage condition, slightly discoulored, frame chipped here and there.

N.B. 1 cm = 0.3937 inch.
