Seller's description

Tricky one - right reading type that prints backwards in this advertising cut for a rubber type set for printing - this is a relief print block that reads "M & W SOLID RUBBER TYPE" with an alphabetical type set including a few common phrases such as, "FOR SALE BY" and "RETURN IN 5 DAYS TO." The part of the metal plate that won't print reads, "ISEU 3 18." The side of the wood block is stamped as, "MEYER & [illegible] INC. CHICAGO." This is a copper plate mounted on wood.

One image is flopped to show what text will look like printed, but the actual plate is backwards - and it prints the opposite. The image on the plate is in great condition, but the plate itself has damage on one of its corners and hangs over the edge of the wood block. The paper on the back shouldn't affect printing.

This block is usable and printable as an antique component for letterpress prints. Make your own gift enclosures, greeting cards, notebook covers, ornaments and much more with imagery like this on your letterpress printing press. These blocks also make great souvenirs, gifts or visual knick knacks.

Tall 21 picas
Wide 21.5 picas
Type High Block is .918" high which is the standard for printing blocks in the US
All measurements are approximate - I round to nearest pica or half pica - also see photos.
(this is the measurement from the bottom surface of the block to the printing surface)

I provide all measurements here in printers measure - Picas and Points (There are 6 picas in an inch for non printers.) Also see photos - picas and inches are indicated on my ruler shown.

These antique printing plates are sold AS IS - no returns or exchanges. All items in this store are used and most likely dirty with ink and print shop dust on them, if I notice any flaws or crushed sections I will note it in the description or ask me if you notice something that you want clarified. I am a letterpress printmaker so if you have questions please ask.
