I call these test tube spice racks "Blemish Racks" because it's the blemishes in the wood that make them fun.The photos are exactly the rack you will get when purchased - less the contents of the test tubes of course.

The wooden rack is handmade out of 100 year old wide plank pine floor boards. They are out of a home in Turner's Falls, MA.

I glue and stack the boards, clamp 'em, let 'em dry, cut them as square as possible, drill the holes, sand them, stain them and then coat them with a water based acrylic satin finish.

You can put all sorts of spices, herbs and salts in them. Small candies, breath mints, staples, paper clips and thumb tacks for office supplies. You can put sprinkles/jimmies, nuts, choc chips & M&M's in them for a Sundae Bar. Heck, you can even put stemmed flowers, leafy stems and dried lavendar, bath oils & bath salts in them. If it fits it works. I have a friend who uses them for sewing and beading supplies.

Do not wash the wooden rack, test tubes or corks in a dishwasher. Hand wash with care. The wooden rack should not be submerged in water. It should be wiped clean with a damp cloth and dried with dry cloth immediately. The test tubes are glass and the stoppers are cork. Handle with care as with any glass products. Do not leave in reach of children.
