"Play the Song" is covered with a wonderful Italian paper that was copied from an old book on the teaching of music . The end papers are copied from antique paste papers used in Medieval times and the textblock is Strathmore Pastel paper in a light tan. There is a wonderful antique engraving used as a frontispiece that shows the interior of a cathedral or abbey. The engraving is original (not a reproduction) and was removed from a defective copy of "Evenings at Haddon Hall", 1846.

This book would be a great gift for anyone interested in history or music. Filled with memories it would make a unique birthday or anniversary gift.

For all you book lovers, I would never destroy a book that could be saved just for the illustrations. This copy had already lost both covers and major portions of the text. I was just delighted to be able to rescue some of the illustration for reuse.

This one-of-a-kind book is designed to provide you with a pleasing and inspiring venue to record your insights, memories, hopes and ideas. It is a small book just the right size for your pocket and all your words. This book is 7.5" tall x 5" wide, with 29 blank pages (58 sides), headbands and ribbon place marker. Spine is brown Italian bookcloth.

This unique book was hand crafted using the highest quality materials and traditional book-binding techniques. The text paper is Pastel paper in light tan and slight texture. I never repeat combinations of cloth, covers & endpapers so each book is different from every other one.

To make my books, I first cut the text paper to size, fold it into gatherings or sections. The sections are sewn over tapes to create the text block. The title page is printed, frontispiece and endpapers added to the text block. The covers are then created from Davey board, book cloth and decorative paper. The spine of the book is reinforced and lined. The joints are reinforced with muslin to ensure long life, even with heavy use. The text block is then cased into the covers to complete the book.
