I have recently found great happiness and meditative peace in the process of creating each and every one of these porcelain and chocolate stoneware clay beads.

I begin by clearing, then organizing the table top area in my cool basement studio where I lay out my clay, my tools, and collecting bowls for the beads to gather to dry before they are placed into into the kiln for the bisque firing. The creative mood is set with music (as of late, Matt Pond PA on Pandora has been my favorite mix to listen to). Sometimes I sit for hours creating these little treasures.

I have made it a point to only cut and measure by eye and feel when I make these beads as to allow myself to really enjoy the process of creation and not stress about perfection (which for me is a huge step).

This listing is for a set of 8 Pairs (16 beads total), and you get to pick one shape of bead from the first four photos for your (1) set of beads:
Photo 1 = Textured Disc Beads
Photo 2 = Round Beads
Photo 3 = Chevron Beads
Photo 4 = Spiral Beads

***Leave your shape choice in message to seller***

Outside dimensional sizes in your custom set will vary from what is pictured.
I added photo #5 to show you the scale and variations in sizes and shapes within a particular "style of bead".

If you have a project in mind where you prefer the smallest or largest of this size of bead, please make a note of that in the message to seller as well so I can pick out that size for you before I glaze them.

About the bead hole size:
I use a larger diameter bamboo skewer (which is on average is a bit above 2mm in diameter) to make the hole in the bead.

If you are planning on using up to a 2.2mm thickness of soft stringing material (leather, suede, silk, ribbon, cotton cord, etc) you should be able to get your material through this bead hole without much fuss.

When using a hard stringing material such as very, very thick gauge wire, or a round firm bracelet (like the metal bracelets used for some popular larger hole glass beads), there may be some difficulty getting these handmade beads onto those due to the exact roundness of the wire, and the potential oblong shaped handmade hole (it happens - holes can get a bit wonky).

Once I receive your order:
1. I will pull the beads you request from my unglazed stock in pairs.
2. Each bead will be hand painted in the glazes from this palette.
3. After drying, the bead holes are cleaned and the beads are loaded onto bead rods so they do not touch and then they are fired in my kiln to 2232 degrees F.
4. Once the kiln is cool and beads unloads (a 24 hour process), I quality check them for defects.
5. After I approve them I will then string them on a piece of twine for you.
6. Each set is carefully wrapped then packaged so they do not break in shipment.
7. I then mail them off to you via USPS First Class Parcel mail (see my policy section for shipping options and upgrades).

This process should take no more than an estimated 2 to 3 weeks in my studio plus shipping time to get to you.
If I get a little backed up with orders and need to make the beads to fill your order, then please add an extra week into the estimated lead time.

I have been able to build up a bit of stock in these various shapes so that the lead time should be cut down a bit.

Thank you for your understanding and acceptance of my handmade process and the variations in your unique handmade beads that you will receive from me. I hope you enjoy working with these as much as I have enjoyed making them for you.
