1950'S BEAUTY BOX WHITE & CHROME METAL BREAD BOX

Clark Beckman stood in the kitchen doorway smiling from ear to ear. He was holding a large box behind him, hiding it from his wife who was busy making supper.

“Happy Birthday dear, guess what I got you,” He said as his wife Connie was pulling a meatloaf out of the oven. “You’ll never guess in a million years,” he said, prodding her to make a guess.

Connie hated guessing because Clark actually wanted her to guess, and guess and guess. In fact, he took great delight in this little game and it was mandatory that you made at least twenty guesses until he would finally relent and allow you to open the package and find out. She had wised up over the years though and had developed a strategy to narrow the choices down.

She wiped her hands on her apron and asked Clark her first question, “Is it bigger than a bread box?”

“How’d you guess...it...it IS a bread box.” Clark said with a deflated look on his face.

ITEM DESCRIPTION
Here's super sweet white bread box with chrome door made in USA by Beauty Box that we are dating to the late 1950s to early 1960's. The front lid features a wheat graphic and "Bread" printed blue on white. It has a wood cutting board inside the lid plus it has its original metal shelf. The box is 17" wide, 10.5" high and 10" deep.

CONDITION:
This bread box is in good vintage condition. The chrome front door is nice and shiny with only a few light scratches and some small, light dings but no rust. The exterior white paint finish has worn off in a few spots (mainly on the edges and corners) with some scratches plus there's some light rust pitting along the bottom edges. The interior is pretty clean although there are some spots mainly along the back inside wall with worn-off paint. The removable stainless steel shelf has some scratches and some surface rust spots. The wood cutting board inside the front lid is good shape with a few knife scratches but no water damage, cracks or splits. The lid latch works as designed.
