Stunning brass and enamel antique compact from the early 1900s. Black enamel and brass construction. Raised horse profile on the front of compact as well as raised decoration on the top corners. Inside there is a half-oval shaped mirror in excellent condition with no cracks or spotting. Brass oval lifts up to reveal traces of powder and original powder puff with Coro brand name in script. This mark has been identified as one used in 1919. Hinge of compact works perfectly and clicks shut securely.

Coro Jewelry, Cohn and Rosenberger, was founded in New York by Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger in 1901. They used the first two letters of their names to come up with the name Cora. A factory was established in Providence, RI in 1911.
