Handmade Basket from Pastry Blender with Red Leather Detail

This basket started as a pastry blender! I use the vintage blenders for the basket frame by pulling the wires apart; they become the initial 'ribs'. The blender's handle remains the handle of the basket. I add more ribs and weave using several materials, including leather, seagrass, and vine rattan.

4 1/2" x 7" and 5 1/2" tall. This old blender has some rust on the side and marks of use on the handle. Very vintage-y! 2 wood beads serve as 'feet' to keep the basket stable. Signed.

I have been making baskets since 1981, and this adirondack rib-style basket is my favorite style. The rib basket has been called 'the cadillac of baskets' because it is very difficult to master. It is the first style I learned and has always come easy for me.

This basket has many uses. It is a good small size for table decor, but can also lend itself in other practical ways as well. A perfect gift for the good cook who likes baskets!
