"Prancing Friesian"
2012, 7" h x 5", charcoal and oil on stretched canvas

...Inspired by my wonderful partner, Nino, who you see in my avatar. He and I are learning a dressage movement called "piaffe" (it's like trotting in place) and I am blown away by his talent. When he is turned out to play and begins to prance about, I see where the natural ability comes from!

This is a painting inspired by the moment and my imagination. I make these emotive and gestural paintings when I'm "in a mood," so to speak. Expressive and fast moving brush strokes keep the piece fresh and gestural. In all of my work, I travel between inner and outer lives, continuously reinventing the work and its meaning until it settles into what you see here. Often, these spirited equine portraits actually serve as a kind of self-portrait.

This artwork can be displayed on an easel, shelf -leaned on some books or traditionally framed.
