This is a 10 inch hand carved wooden spoon with a 2 inch wide bowl just right for stirring a small pot of sauce or serving up salsa or sour cream. Free shipping till the end of July. The salvaged Plum wood came from Center, Colorado and has a nearly perfect concentric pattern of rings. It has a warm reddish orange color which will deepen over time to a richer color. This one could be used in either the right or left hand. The potatoes in the picture are small ones about an inch and a half wide and hopefully give the scale of this medium sized spoon. The handle is straight with a little bend at the end. Finished with beeswax and mineral oil.

This utensil is "pre-washed" so to speak. During the final sanding the grain is raised twice with hot water and then the loose fiber ends are sanded off with a finer grit of sandpaper so that in use the spoon will not get rough. Then it is soaked in a bath of melted beeswax and mineral oil at 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water and towel dry. Apply some mineral oil or Walnut oil every couple of weeks. Better yet is a mixture of 3 parts mineral oil to one beeswax. Melt them together in a double boiler and pour into a small jar. We usually sell 4 ounce jars but we are out right now. We should have some more soon.
