This is a rare specimen from the famed Giovanni DeSimone.

The bottom of the base reads 64/1, which means the vase is most likely from 1964. The secondary numbers (/1 in this case) are often found on his pieces and thought to be internal company codes. They could possibly represent mold numbers, inventory numbers, or catalog numbers.

I showed it to some experts in Italian pottery, and they had never seen one decorated as this one is. The reason being that as an artist and a designer, most of the pieces by DeSimone contained scenes of people -- playing games, dancing, picking harvests, fishing, etc.

After DeSimone's death in 1991, his pieces have become even more highly collectible and increasingly valuable. Mid2Mod reports that, "Experts predict that DeSimone pottery, which has always been collectible, will soar in price over the coming years."

The colors are as pretty as they are eye-popping. In fact, the colors are magnificent as is the art itself. Its primary color is an atomic orange/red. The glaze is still super glossy. Overall, it's in perfect vintage condition, with the exception of three tiny chips on the underneath side of the lip on the opening at the top. The chips aren't discernible when it's on display.

Measures 6 inches tall by about 3.5 inches wide.

Will ship with the utmost care and caution.
