Vintage step stool hand decorated in the popular European folk art style of pyrography. Each step and the sides of this vintage linden wood stepstool are decorated with intricate sunflowers and swirling leaves in the Art Nouveau style. Original black paint edges the outline and steps of this step stool, which can also be used as a side table.

Pyrography was a well known form of folk art or arts and crafts movement circa 1900 - 1920s in France, Germany, and Austria. It involved decorating wood with burn marks from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker, and was also known as poker art. Found in Germany.

Very good condition with some age related wear and scratches as expected. Sturdy and bears weight, but given its age it should be considered primarily as a decorative piece.

Measures 25 inches tall by 14 inches deep by 19 inches across. Shipping costs can vary widely, please contact me for a quote to your destination. Local pick up (Los Angeles/Orange County) welcome and delivery can be arranged.
