Vintage Dark Blue Savory Enamel Roasting Pan - Large
Republic Metalware Company, Buffalo, New York

Many times I think I should take a picture before I clean something. This is one such time. I thought I found a gem, a pearl. I was almost positive it was a Savory from the shape, but with an 1/8" of crud, it wasn't until I soaked it, and ran it 3 times on the pot scrubber cycle, that I discovered a real Savory jewel. There is still a little bit of residue left, but you wouldn't believe me if I told you this was used, judging from the outside, if there wasn't a bit of residue to prove it.

The inside will reveal that it has roasted many chickens and turkeys over the years, and yet it is still in very good vintage condition.

It's difficult for me to tell if this is a midnight blue or black. Either way it is a shiny kitchen goddess!

This is the large Savory measuring 21" from handle to handle, 7" tall (without handle) and approximately 12" wide. There are a few very tiny chips from the enamel on the top of the bottom piece and a nickel size void of enamel on the bottom of the pan. (See pictures).

This double-walled roaster can sit proudly on your shelf and be the envy of all who see it. Imagine the roast!

Now, if you think I've gone on too long about this roaster, this blog is a must-read about inventor, the pan and a passion for Savory:
