I spent a couple weeks building this 3 room chalet. Selecting, cutting and fitting the logs so to get a nice fit. I used more of the Pine Bark Beetle kill spruce logs. Then I used pieces of Elm prunings from my trees for the trim pieces. I used recycled cedar fence slats for the roof and pieces of aspen root, spruce cones, and mosses for the rustic appearance. The base is attached with screws for easy removal and cleaning.
The house has 3 separate rooms and the openings are 1 1/2" in diameter.
The center log is about 7" in diameter and the 2 outside logs are about 6" in diameter. The overall width is about 17" and it is a little over 13" tall. It measures about 11" front to back including the perch. I sprayed the exterior with a coating of Polyurethane to help protect it from the elements and to enhance its appearance.
This house will draw looks from the neighbors and will be the centerpiece of your collection.
