This listing is for TWO generous sized hanging portrait lithographic prints, I believe to be from the 1940's.
The woman is entitled "Southern Belle" and it is by Erich Correns, a 19th century German painter. The following information has been found on the back of other lithographs of his:

"Erich Correrns was born at Cologne in 1821 and after studying jurisprudence at Bonn, went on to the Academy at Munich and became an accomplished portrait painter and lithographer." I have read two stories of who the Southern Belle is. One is that she is the daughter of a rich jeweler, and the other is that she is the coloratura soprano, Jenny Lind (Madam Johanna Maria Lind Goldscmidt) and that it was painted circa 1855, when she was 35 years old. Either way, it is a wonderful picture, and her gown, hairstyle and jewelery all reflect a romantic period from days past.
The detail is amazing and even her hands, fingers and the bracelet are impeccable. It is remarkable!

The male picture is Major John Biddle, an American Patriot, of the Philadelphia Biddles and it was painted by Thomas Sully.

The style of the artists is very similar and the two look very good together.

They are both in oval matching frames of dark wood. 18 inches wide, 22 inches tall. There is new paper on the backs and they are wired for hanging.

The frames need just minor touching up of the stain, or even some scratch cover, but there are no pieces missing or broken bits.

These are gorgeous, and will certainly make a wonderful addition to your home!

I have seen these elsewhere selling for $50.00 apiece, and you are getting BOTH.
