I absolutely love these antique victorian picture nails...they are so pretty with their many designs. This example was made in the 1880's and Measures 1" across the head x 2" Long. The center is made from sulphide in glass surrounded by a mounting of brass. The shaft is a screw in the wall type made of steel. Sulphide is a relief medallion made with china clay and supersilicate of potash...usually used in the manufacture of paperweights. This nail head has a design of a golden yellow St. George's Cross with dots in the center and around the edge. The brass mount has a half rope design along it's edge. This piece is in Fairly Good Condition with one small dent along one edge of the mount...The glass has one chip on one side near the base of the glass...lots of scratches in the glass. These nails are Gorgeous when used to hang your precious artwork...they even look great just laying on your desk.
