Created as a bold silver piece, the striking goldstone also makes a statement. With details on the front and back, it's a fully designed and put together as you are.

{The Creation}

The brown goldstone is set with a solid sterling silver bezel. The silver was cut, formed and finished by hand. Unique to this pendant is detailing on the back of the piece that has been incorporated into the jewelry design for a distinctive look.

{The Inspiration}

I love geometry, which seems to be at odds with an artist personality, but it has a way of working for me. Geometric shapes seem to be quite popular right now, so it made sense to create a piece with a geometric theme.

The goldstone cabochon is set into the piece to ofset the organic portion of the design.

{Details of Refinement}

The pendant and chain are solid sterling silver. The stone is a brown goldstone. The pendant is 2 ¾" (6.9 cm) high (including the bail) by 1 ½" (3.8 cm) wide. The chain is a 18" (45.7 cm) rollo chain with 1.5mm links and a lobster clasp.

Our sterling silver is NOT Rhodium plated and does not have a lacquer finish on it. I prefer to do my pieces this way to preserve the integrity of the silver.

Since this piece has no added preservatives, there will be some tarnishing. The best way to keep your jewelry tarnish free is to wear it often and when not in use, store in an airtight ziplock bag. If necessary, polish with a soft cloth.

You will receive the goldstone and silver necklace pictured.

{A Note About Silver Quality}

Silver can be used to denote the color or the actual metal, and often it can be confusing. What kind of silver is this? Is it solid or filled? What do the terms mean? Hopefully I can clear this up for you.

Pure .999 silver is an incredibly soft material and does not do well in the construction of jewelry. It scratches, dents and scars to easily, so usually another metal is combined with it to create a stronger alloy that resists damage..

Sterling silver, also known as 925 silver is a silver/copper alloy containing 92.5 parts (92.5%) silver and 7.5 parts (7.5%) copper. This makes the metal hard enough to resist scratching and maintain detail when worked into jewelry.

Silver jewelry that is not sterling is made of a silver alloy that is 85% to 90% silver and cannot be legally called sterling. Coin silver is typically 90% silver and dental silver is usually 60-70% silver.

German silver, also known as nickel silver is not silver at all, but is an alloy of nickel, copper and zinc. It has much the same color as silver, but is a lot less expensive since it contains no silver at all.

Solid silver jewelry is completely silver all the way through. Silver that is noted as filled, electroformed or plate has a much less expensive base metal in the center that a thin layer of silver has been applied over the surface of. This cuts down the cost of the item, but also runs the risk of the silver wearing away and the base metal showing through.

One of the ways commercial jewelers keep silver from tarnishing is to plate it with rhodium. A much cheaper, non-tarnishing metal. I personally do not like rhodium plating, because it puts a much cheaper metal on top of the silver, and then, what's the point of having a silver piece.

Our sterling silver jewelry is NOT Rhodium plated and does not have a lacquer finish on it. As with all sterling silver, there will be some tarnishing. The best way to keep your silver jewelry tarnish free is to wear it often and when not in use, store in an airtight ziplock bag. If necessary, polish with a soft cloth.
