For your sunny day adventures, I present this vintage one-piece swimsuit, fresh from the 60s, in bright aqua blue with curvy space-age seaming and white fringe to make your hippy hippy shake all the more fabulous ~

This was made by Mary Ann DeWeese, head designer for Catalina Swimwear in the 1940's & 50's before leaving to launch her own line. Today her iconic pieces can be found in museums, and it was her work with innovative textile designers that brought about the elasticized miracle fabrics that are the mainstay of modern day swimwear.

This suit is beautifully constructed with a sturdy textured stretch fabric for smoothing and shaping and a built-in bra with seamed cups to provide uplift and support (the tag calls this a "Sta-cup bra"). It has boy-cut bottoms with wide elasticized edges that lie flat -- no digging & gouging here --, and shoulder straps that button in the back and can be worn criss-crossed or not. Also included is a vintage Jantzen swim cap that came from the same estate.

size: label reads 10/32 ... will nicely fit a modern size extra small to medium

chest: 35" unstretched across the top, not including the fullness of the cups which will best fit a large A to small C cup...the interior bra band measures 27" unstretched; comfortably stretches up to 36"
waist: 22" up to 31"
hips: 29" up to 38"
length: unstretched, it's 12" in back measured from the bottom center of the scoop back; 25.5" in front measured from the top of the bra cup not including the strap

there are no stains, the aqua color is nice and vibrant, not faded whatsoever, and the white fringe is a nice bright white. I would venture that this suit wasn't worn much at all ...even the nylon lining on the crotch gusset looks new. I found two tiny thread snags, but other than that, this suit is pretty much perfect. The Janzten swim cap has a small torn piece missing near the snap -- shown in the last picture -- and very slight soiling on some of the diving ladies but nothing major. So, all in all, they're in excellent, beautiful, and totally wearable condition ♥
