This is a marvelous set of six vintage books, The Mother's Encyclopedia in Six Volumes (Parents' Institute, 1950). Covering everything from Accidents to Worry, the books are full of sage advice, 1950s style. Compiled by the editors of Parents' Magazine, the books were originally published in 1933.

The books are hard bound with cloth covered boards. They have gilt spines and an embossed silhouette of a child on the cover. The end papers have illustrations of children at various stages, and the books are sprinkled with wonderful full page black and white photographs, illustrating concepts such as "Science can help her plan the future" and "Outdoor fun is a good antidote for dubious pastimes."

The books are in good condition overall. The covers are a little dirty, and there's a tear on one spine and some worn corners, but the bindings are nice and tight. The pages have yellowed some; one volume has a few bent pages, one volume has 3 or 4 pages with light crayon marks, and two volumes have wavy pages. Aside from that, the pages are in good to very good condition.

Size: 1432 pp (the books are consecutively numbered), including Index; 7 1/4 x 5 inches (18.4 x 12.7 cm)
