Mother Hare Frisk

Early one morning Frisk heard some crying sounds and went to investigate. When she arrived by the edge of the meadow she got rather a surprise because there in the middle looking disheveled and scared was a tiny fawn.
Frisk bounded over and immediately took him under her paw to a sheltered spot where she began to lick his tufty coat clean and give him a welcome meal.
Well, he might have been a tiny scrap of a fawn but compared to Frisk he was the size of thirty leverets and had depleted all supplies of lunch and dinner in one sitting.
She knew that it would be a challenge to keep him well fed until he started on shoots and buds so she called over a couple of the other mamas and they worked out a roster system for meal times.
In no time at all young Jamie had nearly doubled his weight. He sure was getting bigger but Frisk and the other mamas noticed that he was getting bigger in girth and not that much in height so a couple of the mamas were dropped from the feeding roster, to their relief.
James made some cries of protest but he was really very well fed and besides the other mamas all had their own little charges to take care off, smaller mouths or not.
As he was growing so well Frisk started to gather tasty buds and greenery for him and every morning he would take in a small leaf or flower top along with his breakfast and then give mama a huge contented smile.
That made it all worthwhile! those sleepless nights when he couldn’t settle, the barrage of tears when a thorny branch jabbed his delicate legs, the burps of wind when he guzzled his milk too fast and nearly choked.
Yes, thought Frisk, her heart warming, all it took was a happy smile from Jamie and she knew she was doing alright.
Ofcourse a few of the other mothers also became rather attached to him and there were always plenty of offers to take him out for some fresh air or help at bath time and even extra helpings of tasty blooms and buds making their way into his daily lunches. He was a much loved baby indeed.
Frisk is looking forward to dozing cosily on your armchair by your French windows. She is needing a rest and feeling a little tired after those many busy weeks with Jamie.
Make sure to leave the door ajar because she will be going out every day with Jamie – just because he is not in diapers any more doesn’t mean that he is independent, goodness, no!
His lessons in life have only just begun and Frisk now has a full time schedule of activities, mind though, she is getting some assistance from the other mothers.
Infact she is getting so much assistance that she feels less like Jamie’s mother and more like an aunty.
She’ll have to put her furred foot down and claw back some more time with him.
Let’s start with his basinet – she’ll have it next to her chair so that she can sing him goodnight songs at bedtime and in the mornings he will get an enchanting fairytale so that his days start magically, as all days should.
You are welcome to listen in to the fairytale too if you wish when you are having your rice crispies but no crunching or slurping too loudly or you will disturb the flow of the story.
And as for his bedtime songs, well you can listen in too but no trying to join in. Frisk has heard you crooning and you’re pretty tuneless. The noises that come out of you would scare any tiny fawn for sure and give them nightmares so how about you just do a very quiet one decibel hum instead.

Frisk has been made with great care and she has safety eyes. She has been machine and hand sewn by me and will have many ‘unique’ (imperfect, handmade) bits.
However, she is not recommended for very young children and is not a toy.

She is made from a some printed deer on cotton, and has a polyfill stuffing, along with a full stomach of dandelion leaves (only joking!).

She stands approx 27cm high and 38cm wide (approx 11” x 15”).

Frisk looking forward to her journey to her forever home.
She also wants you to know that baby hares are called leverets and mothers are does.
