Mother Hare Beauty

Beauty isn’t a mother yet and the other mothers have stopped asking her when she will be one, but she is a very good and devoted aunty.
And not just an aunty to leverets but an aunty to all small young mites out there, and she has proved to the other mothers that she is more than capable of holding her own with small charges.
Ofcourse, she makes sure that she puts her best paw forward in public with the youngsters when she is returning them after a day of play, but in private, on the other side of the meadow when she has them all scattered around her, it is a bit of a different story.
She has spent many occasions frantic with worry about her nieces and nephews, trying to stop them from nibbling dangerous plants, playing with sharp branches, general misbehaving, repeating bad words and running on rocky ground.
It has been with good humour but a little shame that she has handed them back to their mothers after an afternoon of games and naughtiness and tried to make up excuses for every occasion – the missing patch of fur, the dirty paws, the swollen ear.
Ofcourse the mothers all know that Beauty does an excellent job and there is no way they would be telling her how hard it actually is to rear a baby hare, nor of the very embarrassing mistakes that they have made, but being mothers they have just had to get on with the job and live with it.
Beauty sort of thinks that she is doing an okay job, and she has read quite a few books on parenting to give her some tips, but goodness me, she had no idea how complicated and demanding it all is and by the end of the book she is exhausted!
And to think that some mothers have leverets every single year! They should be getting medals for that.
Plus it’s not just hare babies that she has had to learn about, it’s rats and mice and squirrels and badgers and … the list goes on and on.
Her collection of books has been steadily growing and she’s not seen that much of an improvement in their overall behaviour.
Beauty is looking forward to dozing cosily on your armchair reading her books for tips. It sure is exhausting looking after youngsters all the time. How on earth do the mothers do it?
And she’d like the doors left ajar thanks because she will be out every day for her duties. She has quite a few brothers and sisters and that means a whole heap of tiny relatives to be amused and watched all day, every day.
Goodness! She feels tired even thinking about it. But then again she has seen some very funny things and has had a few really good belly laughs.
Every day there is something to chuckle about infact. Not that she lets the leverets see, that would upset them even further. At that age they need all the reassurance and love and care they can get.
You are welcome to come along with her and meet them all, and join in the group activities.
But there won’t be any consoling for your swollen ear or bruised lip or cut hand or scratched flanks, don’t be so silly, you’re far too old anyway and should know better!

Beauty has been made with great care and she has safety eyes. She has been machine and hand sewn by me and will have many ‘unique’ (imperfect, handmade) bits, especially the scrappy sewing and tufts on her hind leg, but she doesn't mind that too much, after all she is blessed with beautiful legs.
However, she is not recommended for very young children and is not a toy.

She is made from some printed cotton with deer and red berries and silver birch and pines, truly an enchanting place, and has a polyfill stuffing, along with a full stomach of dandelion leaves (only joking!).

She stands approx 27cm high and 38cm wide (approx 11” x 15”).

Beauty looking forward to her journey to her forever home.
She also wants you to know that baby hares are called leverets and mothers are does.
