GORGEOUS Mourning ring with hand etched flowers and open compartments revealing braided mourning hair. This wonderful piece was crafted in 1855...before the Civil War, before electricity was in homes....this is an exceptional piece of history and I am so proud that this piece in my shop.

This ring has such a great look on the finger! And she is in wonderful shape!

Not marked but tests around 9KT Gold

Circa 1855-1856

CONDITION:
Excellent for age. The gold banding is in good condition with crisp inscribing and floral design. Braided hair sections are all superb aside from one where there is some minor damage...please see last pic.

CARING FOR YOUR MOURNING HAIR BAND:
Please take ring off before washing hands, as you don't want soap to build up in the hair braid. Also, moths can eat the hair, so store the ring in a ring box or bag if not wearing it for awhile.
