Exceptional two-piece 1960s Morton Myles for Malcolm Charles rich thick brocade dress & jacket set in shimmering ivory champagne, royal blue and light metallic gold/buff with metallic silver lurex accents! The pattern is tres chic and mod styled with large diamonds outlined with single strands and featuring smaller metallic silver outlined diamonds accenting each point!

The sleeveless shift dress is styled with a V-neckline and a-line cut. A fabulous twisted true blue and silver metallic tie belt with silver fringe lets you nip the waistline for a more fitted sheath look or you can wear it loose as a shift. Dress closes with a hidden back nylon zipper with top eye/loop, is fully lined with ivory silk and is labeled “Morton Myles for Malcolm Charles”. Malcolm Charles was a division of Malcolm Starr.

Awesome tailored matching coat with double breasted hidden snap closures and shimmering gold ball button accents, winged collar, two large front center side pockets, back belt & very flattering seams and tucked panel hem detail! Coat is lined with ivory silk and is also labeled “Morton Myles for Malcolm Charles” as well as “Opducke’s of Streator”. Left under hem of jacket has a NOS green tag that is stapled to the hem with a few numbers – one of which is 12 – I believe this was noting the size.

Courtesy of the VFG: “Morton Myles worked with Herbert Sondheim and Larry Aldrich before starting his own business in the early 1960s.

He gained almost-instant celebrity in 1961, when Jacqueline Kennedy appeared on the cover of Look magazine in his blue sleeveless linen dress, for a family photo with President Kennedy, Caroline, and newborn John-John. Mrs. Kennedy had purchased several of his designs while her husband was still a senator."

Dress Condition: Near excellent! Light purple tint to sky blue under armpits & 1 teensy pin sized brown dot on left side of bodice.

Jacket Condition: Near excellent with NOS tag! 3 pink dots (all hidden from view by double breasted snap closure) and a very faint purple mark on right winged collar. (See facebook or email for pics).

Dress Size: Bust measures 36” around. Waist measures 33.5” around (can be cinched with tie belt). Hips measure 40” max around. From top shoulder seam to hem, dress measures approx. 35 5/8” in length.

Jacket Size: Shoulder seam across measures approx. 16” in length. Sleeves measure 22 ½” in length. From top back neckline to hem, jacket measures approx. 37” in length. Underarms across measure approx. 39-39.5”.

Enjoy!
