Hand Tooled Leather Bag

This is an outstanding hand tooled leather purse from the 1940s with beautiful floral work; probably created during the Arts and Crafts revival period. This finely hand crafted leather bag purse is executed with a fully lined interior of hand tooled leather in an ostrich style pattern which will add years to it's life. A perfect casual Town and Country styled purse to wear with jeans, jacket and a casual shirt. It would also nicely compliment an upscaled Boho style.

Measurements: 13.5" wide x 9.25" tall and the base measures 5.25 wide x 10" long.

Style: Arts and Crafts influenced in both style and craftsmanship with a hand tooled floral and fern pattern with a subtle southwestern appeal. The handles are wrapped with no exposed rough leather and all laces are leather and in excellent condition.

Interior: There is one large center zipper pocket and two side pockets (one with a smaller zipper section) on the interior of the purse. If you would like photographs of the interior please contact me!

Condition: It is in excellent condition, it has obviously been loved, well cared for and stored over the years.

> Leather Lacing is intact with no frays, breaks or repairs. Executed with superior workmanship.
> Brass turn buckle clasp is smoothly working with a fuax tortoise shell accent insert.
> The leather is supple with no cracking or stains.
> No offensive odors, the interior does smell a bit like face powder.
> Interior leather lining is hand tooled leather made to look like ostrich and is in excellent condition; no stains.
> Interior zippers (2) are in excellent working condition.
> Interior stitching is all sound no rips, tears, or missing stitching.
> Rivets appear to also be brass and are sound and functioning with no tearing or gaps. There is some patina on the brass rivets as seen in the photographs.
> The leather strap holding the buckle clasp does show some light fading and there is a minor scuff on the lower left side of the purse face which would probably buff out with a light shoe polish treatment.

Taxco Silver Brooch

Fun 1960's Taxco butterfly pin. Made with .925 Sterling Silver and Abalone and stamped with the artist initials JRF this pin is 1" from wing tip to wing tip and 1 1/4" high. Would be beautiful turned into a pendant.

Care is the same as for pearls or mother of pearl jewelry. Keep it away from abrasives and chemicals, clean with a slightly damp soft cloth.
