The imagery of an all-seeing eye can be traced back to Egyptian mythology (Eye of Horus), and also appears in Buddhism (eye of the world), and in Hinduism many gods have the third all seeing eye. In Medieval and Renaissance European iconography, the eye within an enclosed triangle triangle was an image of the Christian Trinity, sometimes surrounded by sun rays. It is a symbol of the Omnipresent Deity, even when adopted by the Freemasons, as a symbol and reminder that God was continually monitoring their work ethic and conduct.

What a gorgeous little reminder, much better than a sticky note, to get your chores and daily tasks under wraps, in case the big ghost in the sky is watching. Luckily my friend stopped by the studio when I had just chosen the avocado green and cathedral gold glass for the triangle, and he emphatically suggested I should make the iris red. He was right.
