This is a rare and very scarce 7" Standard Globe named the Big Dipper by Replogle. The globe is signed and dated 1934. It is Art Deco in design with a very detailed map, including international radio broadcasting stations as of 1934, delineated by the radio antennae. The globe also features Lindbergh's Trans-Atlantic flight and Artic expeditions of Byrd, Peary and Edmunsen.

It is a fiberboard orb covered in 12 glossy gores axis mounted on a round metal base bronze in color and embossed with the celestial Big Dipper.

The Political borders displayed; Manchukou and Chosen (Both invaded and occupied by the Japanese) French Indochina, Siam (changes to Thailand 1939), Persia (changes to Iran 1935), Austria and Czechoslovakia still independent (Austria annexed to Germany 1938 and Czech portion of Czechoslovakia occupied by Germany 1939), Ethiopia still independent (invaded and occupied by Italy in 1936-41)

The condition of this globe is good. The gores are all tightly attached and there are no areas of tears or missing map. The equator tape is missing in sections and is scuffed all around. There is one area in South America where the patina is lighter (see Picture #3). The globe has a slightly uneven patina but nothing at all detracting! The base has small scattered spots of light scuffing or small scratches. The top cap is not original. With all of that said I can honestly state that none of it detracts from the great look of this extremely hard to find globe.

Because of its small size this gem can be displayed just about anywhere!

As always, ENJOY!!!
