This egg basket (called a gizzard basket or butt basket by some) is reminiscent of the traditional egg baskets of Appalachia. However, it's shape is more extreme than most. And, it is one of the funkiest baskets I have seen.

The handle is made of 3 pieces of grapevine, 2 of which are extended and on one side give balance to the basket. The extensions must have been added later just for that purpose as they are not incorporated into the weaving.

Made of a variety of materials, all natural. Approx 15 inches at bottom x 15 inches tall x 12 inches from one side of handle to the other at widest part. (38 cm at bottom x 38 cm tall x 30.5 cm at widest part) Perfect for fall decorating.

Having been a basket weaver since 1980 and a collector most of my life, this is the first time I have seen a basket like this.

Will ship to other countries; send a message, and I'll post an amount for you.
