Although these stoneware pottery pieces are very durable some care should be taken to prolong the life of your pottery. Stoneware stands up to very high temperatures, buy it needs to be heated or cooled slowly to prevent cracks per the specific instructions below:
• You may use the pottery in your microwave, but only if it contains food or water--never heat a stoneware pot in a microwave when it is empty and avoid prolonged time in the microwave. Always use hot pads!
• When baking, place the baking dish in the oven while the oven is still cool. Heat the oven, the dish and the food you are cooking at the same time. Of course, always use hot pads to remove the baking dish from the oven.
• When using a pitcher with hot liquid, first warm the pitcher with warm or hot tap water -- then pour in the boiling water for your drink. This will avoid thermally shocking the pitcher
• Never use stoneware pottery on a stove burner or over an open flame. It will not stand up to the thermal shock from this type of use and will, more than likely, crack or break.
• You may clean stoneware in your dishwasher or by hand. If it needs scrubbing a plastic scrubbing pad, rather than steel wool, is preferred.
• Please use your pottery and enjoy it. Following these simple instructions will help assure that it lasts for a lifetime.
