Albert Payson Terhune is probably best known as a writer of stores about dogs. Buff: A Collie, and Other Dog Stories is a compliation tales about dogs that was first published by Grosset and Dunlap in 1921. This book bears the 1921 copyright and no other printing dates, but I believe it to be a 1950's reprinting, also by Grosset.

This 7.75 x 6.75 book is 342 pages long. The title novella takes up 107 pages, and the remaining pages are taken up by other, briefer storites. Terhune was a collie owner himself, so his love of that breed is quite evident in his work. The illustrated endpapers show a nice woodcut of running collies, and there is a frontpiece woodcut of a man with a collie.

A sound and clean copy of a classic book, it's a great addition to a dog lover's library!

The cloth cover of this book is clean and sound. There is a bit of wear around the edges and tips, but the illustration on the front cover and the information on the spine are clean and bright. The interior is likewise clean, with no rips, tears or markings. There is a bit of age-related tanning, but it is minor in nature.
