Gorgeous Arts and Crafts porcelain teapot by Moritz Adekauer made at his Altrolau, Austria factory circa 1884 to 1909. It is handpainted in gold and silver and has a lustre ware finish. There is some gold loss on the handle and lid handle which is to be expected in a piece this old and well-loved.

Arts and Crafts was an international design movement that flourished between 1860 and 1910, In Austria, the style became popular in Vienna, inspired by an exhibition of the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Charles Robert Ashbee. The Arts and Crafts style started as a search for aesthetic design and decoration and a reaction against the styles that were developed by machine-production.
