I have always been fascinated by Sand Dollars, and love finding them on the beach. They truly are one of the most amazing creations. Please read below the legend of the Sand Dollar, and the Starfish, and learn the legends of these magical sea creatures as well. I hand tinted the sand dollar with a soft ,pastel sunset scene, added some white sand to create a lovely, white beach, seashells, a tiny starfish and sand dollar, and soft green wispy grasses, just as one sees at the beach. Inside of each sand dollar are 5 doves, and some of these intricate little birds found inside the sand dollar, are attached in the sky, as if they are flying home for the evening, across the soft, pastel sunset. Created with a LED nightlight, with an on and off switch, a long burning, and very low energy use. This is one of these gifts that is perfect , if you or someone special loves the beach, longs to go, and-or just fascinated by sand dollars, as I am. Will arrive safely, and carefully packaged, and will be mailed Priority Mail within the U.S., so will received within days of ordering. A very thoughtful, and unusual gift for someone who is hard to buy for, or has everything.

The Sand Dollar Legend is an Easter and Christmas favorite which tells a story that includes the five slits representing the wounds on Christ when on the cross, the Easter lily with a star in the middle representing the star of Bethlehem and on the back is the outline of a Poinsettia, the Christmas flower. The Legend of the Sand Dollar also tells of the 5 dove's that are inside and how when the sand dollar is broken open it spreads good will and peace.

The Legend of the Sand Dollar

There's a lovely little legend
that I would like to tell,
of the birth and death of Jesus,
found in this lovely shell.

If you examine closely,
you'll see that you find here,
four nail holes and a fifth one,
made by a Roman's spear.

On one side the Easter lily,
its center is the star,
that appeared unto the shepherds
and led them from afar.

The Christmas Poinsettia
etched on the other side,
reminds us of His birthday,
our happy Christmastide.

Now break the center open,
and here you will release,
the five white doves awaiting,
to spread Good Will and Peace.

This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me,
to help us spread His Gospel,
through all Eternity.

Christian symbolism, the Starfish represents the Virgin Mary , who lovingly creates safe travel over troubled waters and is also seen as an emblem of salvation during trying times. The star and the starfish are seen as celestial symbols, and represent infinite, divine love. In addition to love, the Starfish also holds characteristics such as guidance, vigilance, inspiration, brilliance and intuition.

The Starfish Story************************

Starfish are elegant creatures. Their nearly perfect five points make for a beautifully symmetric creature that has been marveled at, and if you've seen a starfish up close, you've most likely been entranced by its beautiful form. The Starfish Story is a tale that will undoubtedly leave you speechless, and is a moral for all to heed. The heartwarming story goes like this:

********************************************
A businessman was on vacation, walking along the beach, and saw a young boy.

All along the shore were starfish that had washed up from the tide, and were likely to die in the hot sun.

The boy walked along the shore and reached down here and there to pick up a starfish and toss it back into the ocean.

The businessman, so accustomed to efficiency, walked up to the boy to tell him about his nonsensical ways.

"I've noticed what you've been doing, son. You have a warm heart and I know you mean well, but there’s so many starfish dying on beaches all over the world. I’m sure you could do something better with your time. Do you really think this is going to make a difference?"

The boy glanced up at the man, and looked down at a starfish by his feet. He picked up the beautiful starfish and tossed it back into the ocean, and said, "It made a difference to that one".
