I'm a big fan of dragonflies. So miuch so, I set about being their personal papparazo last summer. They became comfortable enough to land on my hand or sunbathe with spread wings while I steadied shots for macro close-ups. I discovered that they enjoyed posing as much as I enjoyed embellishing their photos with some surprises and secrets they revealed to me. My 7-year-old niece and 9-year-old nephew and I named many of the dragonflies we befriended. This is "Slim Jim" named after his long, red thorax. These were taken in the Shoreline District of Northeastern Connecticut. I'm adding more to the series soon. I'm incliuding a close-up of the detail as the veins in the wings look like stained-glass. As a finished print, you'll be able to see this detail better as the prints are larger than the thumbnail. Printed on 8" x 10" heavy archival paper. Prints can be zoomed up and cropped as shown; just let me know which cropping you like. Watermark does not appear on print. Uploaded images are lower resolution than printed original.
