This miniature (by today's standards) iron was made and used in Japan in the late 1940's or early 1950's. The handle is wood and the base is metal but the body appears to be mostly porcelain. It's in nearly perfect condition, which makes me believe it was rarely used. The cord and plug are intact and it might even be usable (not recommended -- consult your electrician first!).

I love the baby blue color and the texture of the porcelain. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the cord also has a faintly purplish tint. It also tickles me that the iron came in and was stored in a wooden box! (included). The iron is less than six inches (15 cm) long and weighs about 1.3 lbs (600 grams).

It looks nice on a shelf either framed in the box or sitting on top of it. It was made by Mikasa Electronics.
