I love lilacs. I love their opulence and their scent, but the bushes are a little drab and without character for most of the year when not in bloom. ARMLOADS of lilacs for a big vase on the dining room table or in the entry is such a luxury. When we created a back driveway to the service parking (where tractors and trucks can live) I lined both sides with lilac starts: dark purple, light purple, pink, white, singles and doubles. Now large, the shrubs hide the equipment parking area and provide me with those masses of spring flowers for bouquets from my lilac lane. This roving is lavender, pink, chartreuse green, and a touch of rusty orange.

Merino is the standard by which the fineness of wool is graded and is among the softest fleeces in the world. It’s an old breed, originally brought to the Iberian peninsula in the 12th or 13th century. Being small bodied, it is grown mostly for its exquisite wool. The staple is crimpy and shorter than some other popular breeds, but makes up for that in its legendary softness.

My rovings are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible. These are the same rovings from which I spin my yarns, so I dye them for that. If you find one missing that hasn’t sold, likely, I’m spinning it. Except for specialty fibers, rovings are priced at $3 an ounce.
