Though Edwardian in form, this lovely sterling silver pin is probably more correctly described as Transitional because of its Art Deco styling. Beautiful details include nine French paste brilliants (imitation diamonds) set in a sterling silver frame, which has tiny millegrained edges and graduated millegraining moving outward from its diamond shaped focal point. Both ends have a strong geometric acanthus leaf decoration which blends the late Edwardian period with the emerging Art Deco period.

Marked “STERLING” with a maker’s mark for George H. Cahoone & Company, Providence, RI, c. 1920. This company was known for its imitation diamond (as well as other imitation precious stones) jewelry, and was in business until 1931. It is in fine vintage condition with some patina and spotting on the sides and reverse, but with an overall extremely pleasing appearance. The brilliants have plenty of fire. It is very well made, and fastens with an early single prong locking clasp.

This item will be presented in a tarnish resistant pouch and gift boxed.

SIZE: 2-3/8”L x 1/8”W
