Loaded with fabulously nostalgic recipes like Lamb Loaf with Chili Hollandaise, Mrs. Eisenhower's Chicken Jewel Ring Salad, North Carolina Quail Pie, Sweet-Sour Beets with Orange Marmalade, and Grasshopper Pie, these cookbooks will take you back to a time when entertainment food was a lot like amusement park rides: ornate, colorfully structured and kinda' nauseating. Peppered throughout each adorable pastel checked volume are vibrant pictures of delicious-looking dishes. Each volume contains nearly 400 pages of food creations that only a mother could love... and mine probably did! Volume 1 is full of dessert recipes, volume 2 is for meats, volume 3 is devoted to salads, volume 4 is full of amazing casserole ideas, and volume 5 contains vegetable cooking suggestions. Including the original yellow linen-covered storage box, this darling book set will add a sweet and homey touch to any kitchen, but would look particularly inspired among vintage decor. All books, with the exception of the vegetable volume, which was clearly well-used, are in exceptional condition, with very light wear. So, break out those pots and pans, dust off those knives, and move over, Julia Child, 'cause "Favorite Recipes of America" is bringing sketchy back to cooking!
