SUBJECT: This richly colored, uncommon horse-themed cigarette or tobacco jar was produced by Haeger Potteries and numbered No. 726-H. It was likely made sometime during the 1950s or 1960s, and bears on the bottom the distinctive stilt marks (left by three "stilts" used during the glazing process) often found on earlier works from the famous American pottery. I love the deliberate handwork of the glazing on the lid and over the bas relief of the horse head. Details like those make this lovely vintage piece undeniably one of a kind.

HORSE NOTES: I see the bas relief horse head as that of an American Quarter Horse, for some reason. Perhaps it's in the general solid look of the head and neck or the way the glaze lays in the suggestion of a blaze.

ITEM DETAILS: This vintage Haeger Potteries lidded ceramic jar measures 4.25 inches tall x 3 inches in diameter and weighs 10 ounces. It is in pristine condition, free of chips, cracks or crazing.

SHIPPING & HANDLING: Three-dimensional objects are always well-protected with bubble wrap and peanuts to be shipped in secure packaging within two business days of purchase.

VINTAGE: All vintage and antique items have unique histories and are offered for sale in exactly the condition they were found. They are sold “AS IS.”
