I adore moonstones and sapphires - especially ceylon blue sapphires...so, I am really pleased to offer this beauty in my shop....the person I acquired it from believes it to be from the Victorian/Edwardian era, but I am not absolutely certain that it is that old....to be cautious I will estimate it to be from the 1940's or earlier...

Crafted of solid 14K yellow gold, the ring features a a large luminescent blue-grey moonstone in the center, framed by a ring of beautiful blue sapphires. The moonstone is approximately 8 mm in diameter and is a cabochon cut with a lovely domed top. It was hard to capture the true color of it so I tried to take photos in some different lighting. It definitely has a pretty blue glow to it that is seen at certain angles....it's very clear and in nice condition with only very light wear seen under magnification.

The twelve sapphires set around the moonstone accent the blue glow of the moonstone perfectly....each sapphire is approximately 2.4 mm in diameter, with a round, faceted older cut with small elevated tables. The color saturation and consistancy is great...I tested these stones to make sure they were sapphires and they do test as sapphires for me. I was told they are natural and they may very well be, but I am not certain.....they are certainly beautiful. Under magnifcation I do see some light wear to the stones. The total carat weight of the sapphires is estimated to be over 1 carat, and the moonstone is estimated to be over 1.5 carats.

The raised setting is also lovely, with wonderful pierced work that allows a lot of light in to make the stones look their best. At approximately 13.8 mm in diameter this ring has a very nice presence on the hand! The rise off the finger is approximately 8.2 mm.

With only light wear, the band is still sturdy and strong and is hallmarked inside for 14K gold and also has an old maker's mark that I am unfamiliar with. I do see very slight indications under magnification that the ring was once sized, but done very nicely. The total weight of the ring is 4.50 grams.

Currently a size 5.25, this ring could be sized within reason by a good jeweler who is experienced working with older jewelry. ** Please read my policies page for more information regarding sizing or feel free to convo me to discuss it or to obtaina quote from my trusted jeweler. I'm also happy to locate a recommended jeweler in your area!

This is a remarkably pretty ring...ready to be worn and enjoyed for years to come....

Please convo with questions and Thanks for looking!
