Here is a special gown and shawl I made with the upcoming American Girl doll Caroline of 1812 in mind, or any doll you wish to dress in the Regency period. I wanted this outfit to have a delicate, very feminine look. Some fabric I have is difficult to cut into because I like it so much, and this is one of them! It is a cotton reproduction fabric in a soft pink, with a printed lace overall pattern. I have lined the entire dress except for the sleeves in a fine pale pink batiste. I have made the dress short enough for your doll's pantalettes to show. My doll's pantalettes are riding on her hips, rather than her waist, to make them ankle length, as was the custom for girls in the early 1800s.

The neckline is rimmed with whipped piping. A scalloped white fancy ribbon encircles her empire waistline and ties in a bow in the back. The lower edge of the dress is embellished with a layer of the scalloped ribbon, and pink rose trim is stitched on top. The back closes with two small pink buttons and handworked button loops. Interior seams are serged. My name label is sewn inside.

To grace the dress, I have made a lace shawl from particularly beautiful lace with scalloped edges. This shawl is of course separate, so it can be worn with any of your AG fashions.

Four more views can be seen on my flickr page, including close-ups, and a back view of the dress without the shawl:

This will ship in a box, U.S. orders with delivery confirmation. For sale is the gown and lace shawl. My doll and any other accessories stay with me!
