This is a commemorative medal issued when Pope John Paul II visited his homeland of Poland in 1983. It is in lovely, very lightly worn condition. A smiling John Paul is on the front and The Pieta is on the back.

Although it looks like a sterling coin, it is not. It is silver guilding over nickel metal and quite lovely. It measures 35mm in diameter. It has "Italy" on both sides. This is a very nice vintage religious keepsake of Pope John Paul II.
