This is a beautiful antique belt buckle dating to the 1870s/80s. It has a lovely, crisp floral design with lily type flowers and furling leaves. It may have been used as a mourning accessory or just considered fashionable in that time. It is angled, as seen in the last pics.
It appears to be made of pressed horn and has crazing, mostly on the back. The brass fasteners are firmly intact. It is a deep, brownish-black. It measures 3" across and a little over 2" high.
A lovely Victorian treasure!
