WHY UPCYCLING??
Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or "useless" (we think they are useful!) products into new materials or products of better quality & a higher environmental value.

Lets take a moment to COMPARE: Conventional, Organic and Recycled Cotton.
According to the USDA: Over 2,030,000,000 lbs. of synthetic fertilizers were applied to Conventional Cotton in 2000, 142 pounds/acre, making cotton the fourth most heavily fertilized crop behind corn, winter wheat, & soybeans.

But, What about Organic Cotton? Organic farming methods use natural fertilizers, like compost & animal manure, that recycles the nitrogen already in the soil rather than adding more. While this reduces both pollution & N2O emissions, the process of growing, cleaning & dying it comes at a great cost to the planets fast depleting fresh water resources.

Using Recycled Cotton is the best earth friendly option: it helps reduce the harsh dyes, pesticides & herbicides of conventional cotton & the energy, water and human labor required for both conventionally & organically grown cotton. Recycling also helps divert millions of tons of textile waste entering our landfills each year according to reuseit.com
