An enchanting original 1950’s party dress in baby pink tulle and taffeta. The style typifies the 50’s - oh so feminine and figure flattering - perfect to accentuate a narrow waist. There are three layers to the fabric – a shell pink satin lining, a middle tiered layer of pink tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped with a floating overlayer of baby pink tulle accented with a silver metallic design. When this dress catches the light, these metallic flecks are iridescent. No maker’s label remains. No fabric contents label but this is likely a synthetic blend.
Note the special details on this lovely dress – distinctive shelf bust pleated taffeta bodice wrapped in metallic pink tulle, adorable pink satin bow at the waistline, and especially the fabulous twirling tulle skirt. Note the dress is photographed using an additional crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.
The dress closes down the side with a hidden metal zipper and fasteners. The entire dress is lined in shell pink satin acetate.
No vintage size label, but please see measurements below for proper fit. This is a small small size which would best fit a modern size 2 or 4.
Bust – 33-34”
Waist – ideally 23-24” (possibly 25” with a tight squeeze)
Hips – full
Length – 43.5”
Torso length (strapless) – 10.5”
Skirt length (waist to hem) – 33”
This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No holes or stains and underarms are clean. The tulle is still crisp with no visible tears. No defects to note. The only interior mention is a small soiled spot and a few tiny holes on the skirt lining. This does not show through the outer tulle layers. I should also mention it appears a small vertical panel was added to the left side of the bodice, adjacent to the zipper, likely to let out the bust at some stage.
